It was earlier speculated that all mammals along with the humans have similar eyes and eyesight.
According to the recent researches, a very scientific angle has been introduced regarding this matter and it has been confirmed that mammals like cats, dogs and few other animals are able to see and recognize frequencies that we humans cannot.
According to a study conducted by biologists at City University London, UK, it has been agreed upon that the differential eyesight of species is based upon the collected evidence. The ‘PET MD’ said that it is possible for cats and dogs to see ultraviolet light. This, in turn, unfolds an entirely different array of things to them than what humans normally see. So the next time you see your pet batting into empty air; believe that it can see something you can’t.
Ultraviolet light is the wavelength of light that lies beyond the visible spectrum of wavelength that is commonly known as VIBGYOR. Humans have a lens in the eyes that blocks the rays beyond this spectrum including the ultraviolet light from reaching it. Therefore a similar thought process was instilled in concordance for other mammals too.
However, the study conducted by scientists on dead animals like hedgehogs, cats, dogs, monkeys concluded a different result. The animals that were initially thought not to see ultraviolet light can actually see it. This enables these animals to see urine trails which is helpful for predators to find food and in a similar instance helps reindeer to see polar bear which normally get camouflaged in snow and hence saves them from being the food!
But there might be some more angles to this subject beyond the algorithm of science, something more paranormal and metaphysical. There have been instances where the pets in the house, let’s say a cat starts meowing strangely and pawing into the air as if it chased something.
The cat also kept staring at the ceiling as if it saw something floating around the house especially after a death in the family, provided there were no other UV lights in the room or the house.
So could there be some particular driving reason that made the pet do so? It is indeed possible, for there have been innumerable instances when we perceived the existence of entities invisible to our naked eyes just like the ultraviolet light.
